Huge Creature Dump by rpowell77 Huge Creature Dump by rpowell77
So, I've decided to have a look through a bunch of sketches for creatures that I've done over the past few months! Then I decided to cram them all together on the same image! To think that there were about two dozen or so other creatures that I didn't include in this dump (mainly because they sucked)! I am planning on colouring and rendering some of these, and if you look hard enough you'll find some that I already have, plus I'm in the process of colouring some at the moment! Main reason I did this is because although I have been doing sketches and studies daily I have stopped, mainly because I did miss a few days here and there, and eventually I went 'Ah well! I already missed a few days so whatever,' when I should've went 'I better catch up on the days I missed and keep pumping put more sketches' I'm gonna make the effort to try again, but in a bit more of a set pace, let's say at least 1 creature a day! So from now on, I will sketch at least one creature a day, no exceptions. If I miss a day then I will make up for it the next day, rather than say 'screw it, I won't bother!'

I also took the liberty of numbering them so you can indicate your favourites! If you feel like it that is...you got 81 creatures to choose from, so it may take a while! In the meantime have fun looking through all these guys!!! (P.S. It is a big file!)

HOLY CRAP, THAT'S A LOT OF STUFF.

48 reminds me of Alduin. And that's always good.

I agree with Swtk, I would pay for this stuff to be in a game.

(PSSSST, that means you 343)

Do you look at prehistoric creatures for inspiration? Or do you just start doodling and see where it takes you?

I look at all sorts of creatures for inspiration, including but not limited to prehistoric creatures, doing random doodles is often a good way to develop ideas that I wouldn't normally think of otherwise, but having a good visual library allows me to think more 'outside the box' while designing. A lot of these were developed with nothing really in mind, while others I did have a rough idea where I was going to take it, but usually nothing more than a simple pose in mind.

Cool. When I doodle, more often than not it just looks too silly... like... it wouldn't develop like that naturally. Some of your creatures look like they really could have existed.
Thanks. I really appreciate your response!
